Countdown to Fruits & Veggies Galore

Time to dust off the wagon and get ready to fill it at the Cedar Mill Farmers Market beginning Saturday, May 12th. A wide array of growers, as well as food and artisan vendors will be there to fill our bellies and the not-so-lazy days of summer. Early crops such as Asparagus, bulbs, garlic and salad greens will be there from the beginning, however June is the time to plan your feast around potatoes and berries.   Also, if you love a good harp solo don't forget to check out the music.

Tips for a great market experience:
  1. Shop early in the day to get your hands on the best selection
  2. Bring Cash
  3. Bring your own re-usable bag, basket or wagon to haul your loot
  4. Keep Fido on a leash
  5. If you don't have your child on a leash (lol), keep your eye on them
  6. Respect the vendors prices
  7. Have fun and try something new...such as kohlrabi?
The Market will be open 8:30 - 1:30 on Saturdays through October 27, 2012. See you there!

Jordan Woods Trail Plan
Our soggy spring has halted the project for now, but rest assured that once the mud is a thing of the past, construction will begin on the new Jordan Woods Trail. The park consists of 18 acres of wooded slopes surrounding Cedar Mill Creek. Those who live near the park may experience an increase in noise, dust, and construction vehicles until its completion next winter.

The $1.6 Million dollar project will consist of three trail heads including a parking area and a wetlands boardwalk crossing the stream. The end of the trail promises a view of the creek and surrounding woods, as well as a stone sitting wall for visitors to take it all in. The addition of interpretive signage will highlight the natural features of the park.

According to the Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District natural resources staff, impacts to area wildlife, including beavers and pileated woodpeckers will be minimal.

The name of the park will be changed to reflect the district's effort to preserve natural areas, to Jordan Woods Natural Area.
