Some may feel it necessary to lock up their jewels, put
their cash in a safe, and arm their cars with an annoying alarm that sounds
every time a car with a missing muffler passes by, but the owner of a
two-hundred pound bear parked in his front yard never thought it necessary to
protect it from thievery. Alas, Washington County Police
have their hands full with the case of a missing bear out of a Cedar Mill resident’s
front yard.
According to Oregon Live, Deputies also believe the
bear wouldn't be easy to conceal and someone has seen it. In addition to the
obvious, the bear was stolen in the middle of the night, most likely by two or
more bad bear bandits.
Evidently, the bear was purchased for $1,700 in 1996, weighs
over 200 pounds and stands more than 5 feet tall. Could it be a case of simple
mischief, criminal minds, or rivalry revenge? Inquiring minds want to know.
Some possibilities of where we think the bear may be found
include; Beaverton
High School’s gymnasium, South side of Cedar Mill Grist Mill, or under
the canopy of a ’86
Chevy Silverado.
As long time residents of Cedar Mill who pass by the site of
the missing bear frequently, we can attest that it seems a bit empty around
here. If you have information regarding
the hibernation or thievery of the bear, please contact authorities at 503-629-0111.
