Is Our School District Adequately Planning for Growth?

 
 

As more and more roofs materialize along the horizon, we're forced to question the practicality of such rapid growth; how well can our community actually support or, just as importantly, plan for this hyperactive development? 

Growth is expected and needed in a healthy community, but so are adequate support services... With the recent growth in our area, we’ve begun to see some rising complications and how they have been affecting our school system. Virginia Bruce addresses these issues in her article “Is the Beaverton School District Planning Adequately for Growth In our Area?” Bruce exposes the contributing factors to the district’s problem; she discusses the lack of coordination between urban service providers, faulty planning through the use of outdated data, a questionable use of school funds, and the continued allowance of heavy development.
