Potential Redevelopment of Milltowner I to Offer More Amenities to Cedar Mill Residents

Stay tuned for a possible redevelopment/expansion of the shopping center at the northeast corner of Saltzman and Cornell. Plans are set to include one large anchor tenant and several smaller buildings surrounding the parking area. The current center only utilizes part of the property and Architect Patrick Tiland is heading up the design initiative to plan for multiple public spaces suitable for people to meet and enjoy outdoor dining. Included in the plans are improvements to the existing library building as well as the parking lot.

The idea is to appeal to the needs of Cedar Mill residents, retail establishments and restaurants. With the buzz surrounding our improving economy, one of the property owners Ken Findley stated “The time is right for this...We’ve been talking about it for a while, but the economy is better now and it’s time for the community to get the kind of center we deserve.”

The behind the scenes work to create and submit plans is underway, however it will most likely be a couple of years until the actual work begins. Plans so far include retail space facing the street and two story building at one of the corners.

Walgreens will be moving to their property at the SW corner of Murray and Cornell, but not word yet on the other tenant's plans.
