Vacant Bally's Facility Makes Way for Orchard Supply Hardware and 100 New Jobs

California hardware chain, Orchard Supply will be moving into the now vacant Bally's Total Fitness off Barnes Road. The target date for the grand opening is set for mid-2013, and will employ about 100 people.

Orchard Supply began as a farmers’ cooperative in 1931 and offers merchandise needed for recurring home maintenance and improvement in categories such as hardware, paint, tools, nursery and garden. The average store is 44,000 square feet of enclosed space and 8,000 square feet of exterior nursery and garden space.

Headquartered in San JoseCalifornia, Orchard Supply Hardware has nearly 100 locations throughout the state of California. “We have wanted to bring Orchard to Oregon for a long time, and we’re thrilled to finally be entering the market,” stated Mark Baker, president and CEO.

My only concern is that the convenience that Orchard Supply brings to the area may give my wife inspiration for new home improvement projects...to be completed by me of course.
